Holiday Outfits - Barbados edition!

I am WELL aware that summer has been and gone - what a fleeting visit it was! However, I have just come home from a FAB-U-LOUS holiday in Barbados! *insert typical holiday beach photo here*

Most gorgeous beaches - I could live here forever!

While on holiday I tried out some outfits that were out of my comfort zone that I ended up loving! My key pieces were a maxi skirt (or short or midi, it works with all) and pairing it with a crop top (specifically speaking I paired it with a fringed bikini top and LOVED it)

Bikini Top - Swimsuits for all (this one)
Skirt - Dorothy Perkins (can't find the same one but this one looks very similar but shorter length)
So the photo shows this yellow pleated maxi skirt which was from Dorothy Perkins in the sale and a fringed bikini top. On this holiday I brought two bikinis with me (both high waisted due to never wearing a bikini before and wanting to slowly build confidence) but this fringed top was my best purchase as it doubled as a swimsuit and top to wear! I also did the exact same outfit but with a different maxi skirt and different accessories  - so versatile!

My other favourite outfit was pairing a pair of basic denim blue jean shorts (I have no idea where mine are from) with various sheer tops - see photo
Top - Forever21+ (its even on sale here !)
This is quite honestly one of my favourite tops I think I have ever bought. EVER. I've had compliments from friends, family and even complete strangers when I wore it on a night out! I've definitely found a winner in this gorgeous halter top. It is so flattering to any figure and is perfect for warmer weather!

I hope I've helped in some way! But my two staples for warmer weather will always be sheer light tops and a maxi/crop-top combo!

New beginnings

So, whether anyone will read this blog I don't know, however I do know that I want to use it in many different ways. I've decided that I want to change directions a bit and cover DIY, makeup, reviews, hair but also plus-size fashion and will probably cover other subjects too.

The one I have surprised myself the most about is wanting to venture into becoming more of a plus sized fashion based blog. I am plus sized, and for as long as I can remember I have always made it a negative thing meaning that I can't dress or look how I want just because I am larger. However, I have decided to change this and try to embrace it and turn it into something positive. So there you go, a plus size fashion idea has been born.

I am plus size, so what?! I am going to wear what makes me happy, what makes me feel good and not follow the stereotypes of what I should and shouldn't wear.

"Oo no, you mustn't wear stripes
Definitely don't wear a dress
Don't show your legs/arms - they're too big
No strappy tops they don't suit you"

This is forever what I hear. Generally not directly said to me, more as a 'standard' that our society sets us. I followed it for a long time, but now am slowly realising that I am my own person and I want my clothes to show my personality, not hide it.

So, lets get on with it and I'll talk to you in my next post!
